Local inventory

Update Atlas reads application metadata, manager records and selected software folders to build its inventory. Preferences and catalog cache stay on your Mac. The inventory can contain software names, versions, bundle identifiers and local paths.

Network checks

Update checks contact the configured release sources, such as vendors, app stores, GitHub and package registries. Those services receive the requests and may process network information including your IP address. Normal package-manager inventory may also contact registries. CLI --offline performs local discovery, reads Homebrew/npm receipts and skips external package commands, Docker connections, remote catalogs and version requests. Other package environments are explicitly omitted in that mode. Optional catalog downloads use alperenalan.com or your selected HTTPS source.

Optional coverage reports

Reporting is available only in builds configured with the receiver, and only after you select unresolved items and confirm the exact JSON preview. No background inventory report is sent. Dedicated paths, email addresses and device identifiers are excluded. Software names can themselves reveal personal information; review them before sending.

The receiver at update-atlas-api.alperenalan.com runs on Cloudflare Workers and stores accepted reports in a Cloudflare D1 database restricted to the EU. Reports contain selected software names, bundle/signing identities, installed versions, kinds, release channels, mechanisms and statuses. They are reviewed manually; submissions never alter the catalog automatically.

Requests are limited by IP address to reduce spam; the application does not write that IP into report records. Worker request logging is disabled. A daily deletion job removes report records older than 30 days; Cloudflare infrastructure and recovery backups have their own retention policies. To request deletion of a report, email the receipt reference to hi@alperenalan.com.

Support is optional. The Buy Me a Coffee link opens that provider’s website; any payment is handled there under its own terms and privacy notice. Update Atlas does not process card details. This website uses its existing website analytics; that is separate from the Mac app.
