Menu Bar Converter Privacy
Last Updated: 2026-10-15
What the app collects
Nothing. Menu Bar Converter has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It does not send your currencies, amounts or settings anywhere.
What stays on your Mac
Your list of currencies, the last amount you typed and your settings are saved in the app’s own storage on your Mac. The most recent exchange rates are cached there too, so the app works offline. Deleting the app deletes them.
Exchange rates
To show current rates, the app downloads public exchange-rate tables from the source you choose in Settings:
- ExchangeRate-API (open.er-api.com) — the default for currencies
- Coinbase (api.coinbase.com) — the default for cryptocurrencies
- The European Central Bank, via Frankfurter (api.frankfurter.dev)
These requests ask for the same public table every user gets; they contain no information about you or your currencies. Like any website, those services receive your IP address with the request and handle it under their own privacy policies.
Links
Links in the app (the rate sources’ credits, this page, support) open in your browser.
